PUNJABI JEERA ALOO ( CUMIN FLAVOURED POTATO )


Punjabi Jeera Aloo is one of the easiest recipes to prepare, especially when there is a lack of time. It is a flavourful, delicious and irresistible dish of baby potatoes and cumin seeds. Here is how to make it at home.

Recipe:
(Serves 4)
Ingredients:
  • 500 g Mini baby potatoes
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp Green chilli
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder 
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp Dry mango powder( Amchur )
  • tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1 tsp asafoetida (Hing )
  • 2 tsp salt
  • Few curry leaves
Method:
  • Boil the baby potatoes in a pressure cooker for 2 whistles.
  • Then peel and keep aside.
  • Now in a pan , put oil and add jeera along with hing.
  • Once jeera splutters ,add green chilli and curry leaves.
  • Now add the peeled potatoes.
  • Cover for 3-4 min and cook on low flame.
  • Now add the dry spices (haldi , red chilli , salt , coriander powder, amchur and garam masala)
  • Mix and cover for 3-4 min on low flame
  • Mix once in between, it will be a little crispy on the outside while soft inside.
  • Now its ready to serve.
